Welcome to the home page of the Service User Involvement project

A three year, Comic Relief funded project, to work with people who use mental health services and mental health service providers, the Service User Involvement Worker (SUIW) will assist service users to increase their awareness of their rights, choices and opportunities in the planning, design and delivery of mental health services.

David Rabjohns is the SUIW.  Based in Newcastle Emlyn, David will work across Ceredigion with specific focus on the Teifi Valley.  David took up post in June 2007.

Involvement is defined as ‘activity that enables users of services to influence actions taken by those who make decisions at all levels’.

Involvement does vary from area to area, depending on local need.  The type of involvement can include:

User groups

· Recruitment & selection of staff

· Education & training of staff

· Service planning, commissioning & development

· Consultation

· Service monitoring, audit, evaluation

· Research
